Soaps live and die by their secrets and mysteries. And it feels like several current mysteries have had long shelf lives. Who’s lying? Who’s dying? And who’s hiding way too much? From secret identities to shocking pasts, the drama is off the charts across The Bold and the Beautiful, Beyond the Gates, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless! But there are a few of daytime TV’s burning mysteries we NEED answers to—like, yesterday. Actually, we’re starting to get impatient for these resolutions and revelations to happen.
Resolve These Mysteries Now, Please
Mystery #1: What did Martin do? (BTG)
We are practically three months into BTG’s run (congrats on season two, by the way), and we have only inched closer to finding out what Martin (Brandon Claybon), Vernon (Clifton Davis), Anita (Tamara Tunie), and Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) are hiding. Martin is still having nightmares, and recently, we saw visions of police cars or something like that. What did Martin do, and did he do it before he was a congressman? And how bad is it that he dropped his dreams of running for POTUS? Also, it really seems like his parents or his husband don’t even know about this secret.
Mystery #2: Will Liam actually die? (B&B)
While this mystery hasn’t been going on too long, it’s only natural that we’d want to know if Liam (Scott Clifton) is going to die. The last few weeks have been about his inoperable tumor and his keeping it a secret from most of the people who love him. It’s his mission to make things right for the people he may leave behind. But, come on. Is this going to be like Taylor (Rebecca Budig) and Eric (John McCook) before her? They both turned out fine. So, who knows, a groundbreaking cure could be found, or it turns out the tumor is operable after all. Is this a ploy to get Hope (Annika Noelle) and Liam back together? Inquiring minds would like to know, and know soon.
Mystery #3: Who Shot EJ? (DAYS)
At first, the cops were all about the Who Shot EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) investigation. They were diligent about it, but as time has gone on, the official investigation has taken a backseat. So far, the police ruled out Kristen (Stacy Haiduk). And Gabi (Cherie Jimenez), Rafe (Galen Gering), Johnny (Carson Boatman), Kate (Lauren Koslow), Jada (Elia Cantu), and Roman (Josh Taylor) have taken themselves out of contention — but can we trust that? Ava (Tamara Braun) isn’t a part of this anymore either. EJ has a million enemies. Someone shot him. Who was it? While murder or attempted murder mysteries are always fun, we start to lose interest the longer it takes to solve the case.
Mystery #4: Who planted the incendiary device in Sonny’s penthouse— was it Sidwell after all? (GH)
The explosion happened in early January. Michael (Chad Duell) has been at that Baden-Baden burn clinic for months. And it doesn’t seem like Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Jason (Steve Burton) are any closer to finding out who blew up his penthouse. Their pursuit took them to Canada, but since then, not much has happened to resolve the identity of the person who ordered the hit on Sonny. Logically, it has to be Sidwell (Carlo Rota), right? He did know about Sonny’s recent operation and could have been behind the order to kill him while recovering from heart surgery. Sidwell has made no bones about wanting to take over Sonny’s territory, although he’s currently trying to achieve this goal on the up and up. Hopefully, we will learn who did the deed before we turn old and gray(er).
Mystery #5: Who the hell is Aristotle Dumas? (Y&R)
We should count how many times the name “Aristotle Dumas” has been uttered in the past few months. It has been a lot! And yet, we still haven’t found out the identity of the person who’s been messing with the Genoa City business industry from afar. He’s a rival of Victor’s (Eric Braeden)! He has a special interest in Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson)! He has respect for Neil (the late Kristoff St. John), so Winters is safe! Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) showing up gives us encouragement that we will soon discover who Aristotle Dumas really is. But, seriously, the entire GC corporate community has been so obsessed with this man (and we now know he is a man) and who he is and the fact that he has no digital footprint. We really need to know who he is, asap.
