Seattle Seahawks may already be thinking about grooming Sam Darnold's eventual replacement based off their latest pre-draft visit

With a whopping 10 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft - eight of them within the first five rounds - the Seattle Seahawks can address not only their current roster needs, but future ones.

Seattle Seahawks may already be thinking about grooming Sam Darnold's eventual replacement based off their latest pre-draft visit

Despite signing Sam Darnold and Drew Lock in free agency, the Seahawks could also opt to draft a developmental quarterback for down the line. That guy could be Alabama's Jalen Milroe, who is taking a top-30 visit with Seattle on Tuesday per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

What is a top-30 visit?

A top-30 visit denotes one of the 30 prospect visits allowed for teams during the pre-draft period. The Seahawks host prospects varying from potential first-round selections to those who go undrafted, providing them a glimpse into NFL life in Seattle. Although no on-field workouts will occur, teams can utilize this opportunity to conduct meetings with coaching staff for film analysis, perform physical exams with team doctors, tour the facilities, and more.

How does Milroe fit with the Seahawks?

Milroe's rushing ability and overall athletic style of play is a very different than Darnold and Lock's pocket passer approach. Milroe still has a long way to go in his development as a passer, but can make things happen while scrambling when a play breaks down.

To mix things up at times, Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak could package together some plays for Milroe to get his feet wet, mostly utilizing him as a runner. However, if Milroe is ever going to be a starter in the NFL, he'll have to make significant progress with his accuracy and timing as a thrower.

If Darnold doesn't pan out like the Seahawks hope, they could part ways with him as quickly as after the 2025 season. If that happens, it would sure be nice to have a contingency plan in place. There's definitely an element of risk with drafting Milroe, but his potential upside could be worth it.

Our A to Z Sports Mock Draft Database has Milroe ranked as the 48th best player in the draft, and is projected to be selected between Nos. 39-96. Seattle possesses four picks within that range (50, 52, 82, and 92). As we saw with Russell Wilson and Matt Flynn back in 2012, it never hurts to think ahead at the QB position.
