The Seattle Seahawks already revamped the team’s offense this offseason, but some are pushing the franchise to consider making another major move. Seattle cut ties with DK Metcalf by trading the star wideout to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Seahawks then added former rival receiver Cooper Kupp to help fill the void left by Metcalf. Seahawks Wire’s Justin Melo floated three potential trade targets for the Seattle front office to consider targeting, including an NFC wideout.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs is named as a potential trade target for the Seahawks. Fans may remember Doubs was suspended by the Packers for one game in 2024 amid his frustration over his role in the offense.
Let’s dive into why Doubs could be a fit for the Seahawks.
Seattle also signed veteran receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling in NFL free agency. Additionally, Seahawks rookie Tory Horton has been one of the standouts early in training camp practices. Melo makes the argument for the Seahawks adding more competition to the receiver room.
“Romeo Doubs was displeased with his role for the Green Bay Packers last season,” Melo wrote in a July 31, 2025, story titled, “3 potential training camp trade candidates who should intrigue Seahawks.” “It’s difficult to envision that role getting any bigger this year with Christian Watson healthy, and with first-round receiver Matthew Golden joining the position room.
“The Packers have a ton of mouths to feed on offense, tight ends Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave included, and Doubs could be traded during the preseason.”
Doubs is entering the final season of a four-year, $4.3 million rookie contract with the Packers. Spotrac projects Doubs’ market value is a four-year, $47.7 million deal.
For the Seahawks or another team to target Doubs in a trade, the front office would need to believe that the wideout’s best days are ahead. Doubs has yet to reach 700 receiving yards during his three-year NFL career.
The Packers receiver’s best season came in 2023 when Doubs posted 59 catches for 674 yards and eight touchdowns while playing all 17 games. Pro Football Focus’ Bradley Locker has Doubs among the top 15 trade candidates.
“The Packers made their home fans ecstatic when they picked Matthew Golden in the first round of this year’s draft,” Locker explained in a July 24, story titled, “15 NFL trade candidates during 2025 training camps.” “However, their wide receiver group is still a question mark, especially as it pertains to Doubs.
“… Will the Packers finally move on from one of Doubs, Jayden Reed or Dontayvion Wicks, each of whom has shown flashes but not developed in full? The most likely would figure to be Doubs, who is effectively playing on a one-year deal in 2025.”
Doubs may be a potential trade candidate, but this does not necessarily mean the Seahawks are going to be calling the Packers. It remains to be seen if Doubs would be a significant upgrade over the Seahawks’ current receiver rotation.
The Seahawks may opt to see how the current group of receivers play with new quarterback Sam Darnold before making any significant changes.
