Seahawks Sign Potential Developmental Rookie to Fill Final Roster Spot

The Seattle Seahawks addressed their offensive tackle depth with undrafted rookie Luke Felix-Fualalo this week.

Mike Macdonald Luke Felix-Fualalo

The Seahawks announced signing Felix-Fualalo to their offseason roster Monday. The offensive tackle will fill the final open spot on the Seattle roster.

Felix-Fualalo participated in the team’s rookie minicamp on a tryout basis during May. He played six college seasons for Utah and Hawaii.

SI on Seahawks’ Connor Benintendi suggested Seattle’s new offensive tackle as a project with potential long-term upside.

“With Seattle looking for more stable pass-protector options, Felix-Fualalo could be a decent development option,” wrote Benintendi.

Standing at 6-foot-7, Felix-Fualalo has the height to be an NFL offensive tackle. But he is listed at 318 pounds.

Seahawks Sign OT Luke Felix-Fualalo

Seattle announced signing the undrafted free agent tackle Monday morning. The Seahawks didn’t have to release another player to add Felix-Fualalo because they had already done that Friday.

Before the weekend, the Seahawks released tight end Mitch Van Vooren, who had only been with the team for roughly nine days.

Felix-Fualalo is a native to Australia but played high school football in California.

“Felix-Fualalo, who is 6-foot-7, 318 pounds, took part in Seattle’s rookie minicamp last month as a tryout player,” Seahawks.com’s John Boyle wrote. “Born in Brisbane, Australia, Felix-Fualalo attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California before beginning his college career at Utah.”

From 2019-21, he appeared in 11 games for Utah. During his final three college seasons with Hawaii from 2022-24, Felix-Fualalo played in 21 contests, starting 15 of them.

“He saw the most action in 2023 with 11 starts, allowing just one sack in 491 pass-blocking snaps,” wrote Benintendi.

Felix-Fualalo didn’t play the entire 2024 campaign because of injuries. He primarily played right tackle in college.

Seahawks Offensive Line Depth After Minicamp

With the addition of Felix-Fualalo, the Seahawks have five primary offensive tackles on their offseason roster. Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas are expected to start at left and right tackle, respectively.

Michael Jerrell is returning for his second season in Seattle. The Seahawks drafted him at No. 207 overall in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Seahawks also have undrafted free agent rookie tackle Amari Kight on their roster.

Furthermore, sixth-year veteran offensive lineman Josh Jones could play tackle for the Seahawks this season. Jones is listed as a guard and tackle on the team’s roster.

The Seahawks made the offensive line a focal point of the draft this past spring. In the first round, Seattle selected North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel. The prospect played four of the five offensive line positions during his college career. He’s likely to start at left guard next to Cross this season.

Seattle drafted two linemen on Day 3 of the draft as well.

Third-year center Olu Oluwatimi and second-year right guard Christian Haynes are projected to be the team’s other two starting offensive linemen.

Overall, the Seahawks have 15 offensive linemen on their offensive roster. While the starting lineup is likely decided, Seahawks training camp should have position battles for the backup linemen roles.

To make the team, Felix-Fualalo may need to show he can adapt and play both left and right tackle.
