The Seattle Seahawks are currently attempting to build out their linebacker corps more, as they lost some key players in the offseason. The team lost Jordyn Brooks, who signed with the Miami Dolphins, and Bobby Wagner, who returned to Seattle for the 2023 season but has since signed with the Washington Commanders.
The Seahawks did bolster the unit by adding in longtime Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker, who should provide a solid veteran presence. However, more veteran linebackers would go a long way toward adding depth to this unit. Seattle is even attempting to reunite with one of its longest defenders — but only if that player will switch to the linebacker role.
Brady Henderson of ESPN details how new Seahawks linebacker Tyrice Knight can integrate with the team's defensive unit, and also revealed that the team would consider bringing back safety Jamal Adams if he switched to playing linebacker.
According to Henderson, "Knight joins an inside linebacker corps that will look completely different from last season, though the Seahawks have kept the door open for a reunion with Jamal Adams with the thought that he'd play that position as opposed to safety."
Adams has been with the Seahawks since the 2020 season and was awarded a Pro Bowl nod for his efforts. However, he has not received the honor since that season.

The Seahawks released Adams on March 5. Should Adams want to return to the team, he can reportedly do so by transitioning into the role of a linebacker. It is an odd offer considering Adams has been a defensive back since college.
New Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is a defensive-minded coach who ran the defense for the Ravens in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He might see something in Adams that no one else does. At least, that would potentially explain the logic behind offering a longtime safety the opportunity to be a linebacker.
There is no telling if a team would be willing to give Adams a contract simply because he was not that impactful with the Seahawks since 2020. Adams hasn't exactly wowed anyone with his play. He might be called if injuries begin to stack up in teams' secondaries.
