According to multiple reports Thursday the Seattle Seahawks appear to have their next offensive coordinator chosen.
Current New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, the son of ex-National Football League coach Gary Kubiak, is "in the drivers seat" according to a report from NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo after earlier reporting the Seahawks will interview Kubiak for a second interview in person on Friday.
Kubiak, 37, began his coaching career as a quality control at Texas A&M in 2010-11 before becoming a graduate assistant for the Aggies in 2013
He returned to the college ranks as a wide receivers coach at Kansas in 2015 after spending two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings as a quality control coach under then-coaches Leslie Frazier (2013), who serves as the Seahawks' assistant head coach for Mike Macdonald, and Mike Zimmer in 2014.
Kubiak served as an offensive assistant for the Denver Broncos from 2016-18 under his father and Vance Joseph before returning to Minnesota in 2019-20 as quarterbacks coach.
In 2021, Kubiak was promoted to OC for the Vikings and then returned to the Broncos in 2022 as passing game coordinator and QB coach before leaving again to take the passing game coordinator role for San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan in 2023,
Macdonald faced off against the younger Kubiak in 2022-23 as the Baltimore Ravens' defensive coordinator and allowed a combined 28 points while coming out as the winner on both occasions.
Kubiak moved onto being an OC with the Saints under fired coach Dennis Allen in 2024 before emerging as one of the more sought after offensive play-callers this offseason.
