Seahawks predicted to sign former $21 million corner to pair with Riq Woolen

It's been an offseason of change for the Seahawks, and the team will have several new starters during the 2025 season.

ESPN suggests Seahawks may explore trading star cornerback this offseason

The team exceeded expectations in 2024 and ended up winning 10 games. However, the team is likely hoping to go even further in 2025, and there are still some holes that need to be patched before the season begins.

Wrexham A.F.C. sights set on Premier League

One of those areas is the cornerback position. Riq Woolen has a hold on one outside spot and Devon Witherspoon is an elite slot corner, but the other boundary spot could use an upgrade.

Currently, Josh Jobe is penciled in as a starter. Jobe struggled in 2024 and ended with a 51 overall Pro Football Focus grade. The corner's 49.9 coverage grade ranked 181st out of 222 qualified corners.

Overall, the Seahawks had a middle-of-the-road pass defense last year. As a result, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team add a veteran option this summer after not addressing the position in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors recently identified fits for the best remaining free agents. For Rasul Douglas, Ulrich listed the Seahawks as an option. The Seahawks already met with Douglas this offseason, so it's an easy connection to make.

Ulrich offered the following regarding Douglas and the Seahawks:

Douglas has been busy despite remaining unsigned, taking multiple free agent visits including with the Dolphins and Seahawks so far. He has a solid track record of production in zone-heavy schemes where he can sit back and break on the ball, but turns 30 in August and didn't have an interception in 15 starts last year. Odds are he'll have to wait a little while to catch on with a team that's not happy with its younger options.

Douglas spent the 2024 season with the Buffalo Bills and was a valuable member of the secondary. The veteran played in 15 games for the team and collected 58 tackles, five tackles for loss, and five pass deflections.

The veteran could start on the outside for the Seahawks and would be an immediate upgrade over Jobe. Douglas has played for four different teams over eight seasons in the league, and has usually been a solid coverage corner with an ability to help out in run defense as well.

Spotrac originally projected Douglas to land a three-year deal worth $11.9 million annually. However, with the veteran still available this late in the offseason, it's possible the Seahawks could get a deal done for a little cheaper.

Over the Cap has the Seahawks sitting at around $31 million in remaining cap space, so it wouldn't be hard to bring the defender in.
