Seahawks' plans for rookie QB Jalen Milroe revealed in Sam Darnold's offense

The Athletic: Why the Seahawks don't have a QB competition, as Jalen Milroe learns behind Sam Darnold : r/Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have a very sturdy quarterback depth chart.

Sam Darnold is the shiny new guy, a three-year, $100.5 million signee. Drew Lock is the veteran backup. And Jalen Milroe is the tantalizing rookie.

It's Milroe that many in Seattle are excited about, even though he might open the season as QB3.

That's because even in that spot on the depth chart, the former Alabama star should get on the field.

"Milroe, a third-round pick, should find his way onto the field as well, even as the third quarterback behind Darnold and Drew Lock," ESPN's Brady Henderson writes. "Milroe isn't going to push Darnold for the starting job anytime soon, but the Seahawks do plan to use him a handful of snaps a game in packages that take advantage of his stellar running ability. Spring practices didn't offer much of a glimpse of that as the Seahawks focused on installing their base offense, but that should change during camp."

Milroe is big and strong with 4.4 40 speed.

But that doesn't mean defenses will get to cheat way up when Milroe enters the game. He throws a great deep ball, too.

If the Seahawks can figure out how to incorporate Milroe, it'll make their offense that much more dangerous.
