Seahawks make flurry of roster moves immediately after 2025 NFL draft

Zy Alexander of LSU

Let's get the drama out of the way first. Unlike in 2024, the Seattle Seahawks will almost certainly not sign an undrafted free agent (UDFA) in 2025. After choosing Jalen Milroe in the draft, Seattle now has four quarterbacks. One of them, Jaren Hall, will probably end up back on the practice squad as he was last season.

Since 2010, general manager John Schneider has found several gems as undrafted free agents (UDFAs). Some of these played essential roles for the team. Wide receiver Doug Baldwin became the team's best receiver in the 2010s, for instance. Defensive lineman Michael Bennett was signed as a UDFA, played elsewhere to start his career, but returned to the Seahawks and was spectacular.

Just because a player was not chosen in the draft does not mean they won't eventually help the Seahawks win many games. The player might not be a household name yet, but could become one.

Seattle Seahawks 2025 UDFA signings

  • UNLV LB Jackson Woodard
  • Illinois DE/LB Seth Coleman
  • West Virginia DL TJ Jackson
  • Illinois State OLB Jalan Gaines
  • Florida Atlantic center Federico Maranges
  • LSU DB Zy Alexander
  • South Alabama DL Wy'Kevious Thomas
  • Northwestern TE Marshall Lang
  • Utah EDGE Connor O’Toole
  • Villanova DB Isas Waxter
  • UCF OL Amari Kight
  • Arkansas WR Tyrone Broden

The UDFAs signed above are verified from various sources. Of course, they are not guaranteed roster spots, so they might be let go well before the season begins. Some look like real winners, though.

Alexander is 6'1" and 187 pounds and was The Athletic's Dane Brugler's 19th-highest rated cornerback. Many quarterbacks ranked lower than Alexander were actually drafted.

Broden was rated as highly as Alexander, but he is 6'5" and was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.37. He is rail thin, though, at 194 pounds. He will need to gain muscle and mass to succeed in the NFL.

The great thing is that no one can be too sure which of these players could break out. Seahawks wide receiver Jake Bobo was a UDFA, and he has turned out to be quite productive. Most likely, someone from the group above will turn out the same for Seattle.
