Seahawks' Jaxson Smith-Njigba 'officially retires' in hilarious response after his Pro Bowl Games trick play goes horribly wrong

Jaxson Smith-Njigba's first Pro Bowl Games appearance saw him ruin any chance he had of being used as an emergency quarterback in the NFL.

The Seattle Seahawks wide receiver had one of the worst plays of the day for an ultimately victorious NFC team in their flag football matchup with the AFC.

Having had one pick-six wiped away by a penalty for an illegal blitz against the AFC, Smith-Njigba gifted the rival conference a score immediately after by tossing another interception that was returned to the house by Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

It ultimately did not make any difference as the NFC claimed a third successive Pro Bowl Games triumph but, after the game, Smith-Njigba made sure to get out in front of anyone telling him he could no longer throw passes in a hilarious response to his position change gone wrong.

He posted on X (formerly Twitter): "I have officially retired."

Smith-Njigba then continued in a follow-up post: "From trying to play QB."

So Smith-Njigba certainly won't be top of the list if the Seahawks are ever in the dire situation of running out of quarterbacks, and might now be down the pecking order for trick plays.

But there was a positive highlight for the 2023 first-round pick in Orlando.

Indeed, Smith-Njigba demonstrated why he has a burgeoning reputation as one of the premier young receivers in the NFL. He showed off his skills after the catch to evade several defenders and race in for a touchdown following a short throw from Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

If Smith-Njigba continues to perform at the levels he displayed in 2024, then there will likely be many more Pro Bowls on the horizon for the former Ohio State star.

Just don't expect to see him at quarterback in any of them.
