Seahawks Get Good News on QB Jalen Milroe This Week

Jalen Milroe Emerges as Possible Replacement for $240 Million QB - Yahoo Sports

The Seattle Seahawks have a revamped quarterback room led by Sam Darnold, but Jalen Milroe is also expected to see the field early during his rookie season. Questions remain on just how involved Milroe will be when the season begins, but fans can expect Seattle to at least have select packages for Milroe.

The Seahawks hosted Milroe along with the team’s veterans during minicamp practices this week. Milroe appears to have shined during the Seahawks recent practices. Emerald Spectrum’s Corbin Smith described Milroe’s outing during the June 11, 2025, practice as “another strong day.”

“Seahawks minicamp has finished,” Smith detailed in a June 11, message on X. “Another strong day for Jalen Milroe, who closed out offseason program playing with great confidence.”

Smith also added that Milroe has displayed improved throwing mechanics compared to the player fans saw with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

“Something I’ve noticed – and spoke with (Warren Moon) about last week at practice – already seeing marked improvement with Jalen Milroe cleaning up lower body mechanics,” Smith added. “He’s been throwing with a wider base and the accuracy improvements have been quite noticeable.”

Here’s what you need to know about Milroe with the Seahawks training camp a little more than one month away from starting.

Seahawks QB Jalen Milroe Impressed During Seattle’s Minicamp

It is not just reporters who are taking notice of Milroe’s recent outings. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald also appears to be impressed by Milroe’s early growth.

“Rookie Jalen Milroe throwing today to end Seahawks minicamp,” The News Tribune’s Gregg Bell noted on June 11. “These last (two) practices his best so far. Coach Mike Macdonald told his 3rd-round pick from Alabama during practice how much better he looks now compared to rookie minicamp in May. Milroe flashed him a beaming smile.”

Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald Labeled Questions About Sam Darnold as ‘Crazy’

Milroe may be leaving an impression since arriving in the Pacific Northwest, but Macdonald has made it clear that Darnold’s is the team’s starting quarterback. During a June 3, interview with Seattle Sports’ “Brock & Salk,” Macdonald labeled questions about Darnold potentially losing the starting gig as “crazy.”

“No, you guys are crazy,” Macdonald reacted to questions about Darnold’s job security. “Like, I respect you gotta ask it, but like… it’s just a crazy question. Sam’s our starting quarterback. We love him, he’s doing a tremendous job.

“I think it’s funny that the media is out there for like the first day and all of a sudden they know exactly how good we’re going to be and how good all the players are and all the tempos. We (haven’t) even put on pads yet. Like, we haven’t made one tackle.”

Heading into the 2025 NFL draft, analyst Robert Griffin III compared Milroe’s ceiling to Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts.

“Jalen Milroe blazes to a 4.37 in the 40 yard dash,” Griffin remarked in a March 19, message on X. “He is this draft classes’ Justin Fields.

“In the right situation and with the right pieces around him, he possesses ELITE traits that no other QB in this draft class has. Ceiling for him is Jalen Hurts.”
