The Seattle Seahawks had fallen behind early to the Detroit Lions and needed points. DK Metcalf caught a pass over the middle, turned, and tried to steam down the field. He got hit a few times, and just before going to the ground, he had the ball punched out of his hand. Detroit picked the ball up and ran it back deep in Seahawks territory.
Metcalf did make up for the play by catching a deep pass later, but the damage was done. Detroit was ahead 14-0 before Seattle could try to get back in the game.
Seahawks fans were not going to let Metcalf's fumble go, though. Maybe his error was from too much effort, but it was still a mistake. He got cooked for it.

The play was really made by the Lions. Metcalf has had fumbling problems in the past and will continue to do so if he holds the ball out in tight spaces. He hasn't had a fumbling issue in a couple of years so hopefully this is not the start of a new trend.
Metcalf knew his team was down and was trying to be the alpha. It's a firgiveable mistake and was a great player by the Lions. He still should have gone down, however.
This one is a bit funny. He was trying to power through tacklers instead skating by them but the mentality is the same. And he did make an error.
Had it been any other Seahawks receiver maybe the fumble does not happen. His strength and size allows him to move people other receivers cannot. That sometimes puts him in positions to make mistakes he might not otherwise do.
This post is dumb. Metcalf did not make a bone-headed play. He simply made an error when trying to give too much effort. Just a troll being mean.
