With training camps opening up league-wide, news is going to start coming in left and right. For the Seattle Seahawks, most eyes are going to be on the quarterback room, first and foremost, and for good reason.
Speaking of news, though, one recent bit of news now gives the Seahawks a solid idea of where they could wind up sending one of their veteran quarterbacks when the time is right. Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis is undergoing shoulder surgery and will be out for the entire 2025 season, meaning rookie Cam Ward's main backup is now Brandon Allen.
The Seahawks are obviously rolling with Sam Darnold under center and rookie Jalen Milroe has already become a fun player to watch in earlier offseason practices. That leaves the question of whether or not Drew Lock becomes a trade candidate in the near future.
The Seahawks could take advantage of the Titans' misfortune and deal Drew Lock to Tennessee
Many teams will now keep just two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, which means the Seahawks might just have to part with Lock if they don't plan on keeping three (at this point, we don't know their plans of course).
Lock, though, is a much better backup option than the likes of Brandon Allen. Seattle probably wants to try and develop Milroe for the future, as well, behind Darnold. It simply makes sense for the Seahawks to end up parting ways with Lock, but whether it's via cut or trade remains to be seen.
There are other teams who could be an option for a team like Tennessee, should Allen not cut it as a backup. Think of the Cleveland Browns' situation, for one. Everyone's mind could go to Cleveland, no doubt.
The New York Giants also make sense. Funny enough, that's where Lock most recently played before returning to Seattle.
Now, this isn't to say the Seahawks need to make a phone call right away. But, Tennessee is now a team to monitor and one who could send back a Day 3 pick to Seattle in exchange for Lock.
At the very least, the idea makes sense.
