The biggest danger of training camp and NFL preseason games is potential injuries which the Seattle Seahawks unfortunately experienced during a July 26, 2025, practice. Running back Kenny McIntosh sustained an injury and was unable to put weight on his left leg.
“Running back Kenny McIntosh carried off the field after going down during special-teams open-field chase drill at Seahawks training camp,” The News Tribune’s Gregg Bell detailed in a JuLy 26, message on X. “Can’t put weight on his left leg. Obvious concern from coach Mike Macdonald, fellow running backs Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker.”
Here is what you need to know about McIntosh’s injury.
Seahawks RB Kenny McIntosh Sustained a Leg Injury During Training Camp
McIntosh is looking to push Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet for snaps this season. The severity of McIntosh’s injury remains to be seen, but the early indications make the running back’s status worth monitoring. ESPN’s Brady Henderson provided additional context for McIntosh’s injury.

“Seahawks RB Kenny McIntosh just went down during a special teams period,” Henderson explained in a July 26, message on X. “He had to be helped (essentially carried) off the field with a team staffer on either side of him. Couldn’t put any weight at all on his left leg.”
After a standout college football career with the Georgia Bulldogs, McIntosh is still looking to carve out a consistent role in the Seahawks offense. McIntosh posted 31 carries for 172 rushing yards during 17 appearances in 2024.
Mike Macdonald on Seahawks Offensive Philosophy: ‘Run Off the Rock, Man’
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald has made it clear that the team wants to lean on its rushing attack. As new quarterback Sam Darnold learns a new offense, Macdonald pointed to the team’s rushing attack as a way to take the pressure off of the signal-caller.
“Run off the rock, man,” Macdonald noted, per Seahawks.com. “We want to play our style of ball, let the o-line do their thing, get Sam [Darnold] on the move, separate the defense. All those things.
“It’s fun to watch these guys put it together – in how they drill it, in individual to group. How it all fits together, all the rules, it’s really exciting.”
Seahawks RB Ken Walker Is in the Final Season of His Contract & Projects To Be a Free Agent in 2026
Walker also sustained an injury during the offseason which limited the running back in workouts, but the playmaker appears to be back at full strength. The running back is heading into the final season of a four-year, $8.4 million rookie contract. Walker will be a free agent in 2026 if no extension is agreed upon, and Seattle does not use the franchise tag on the playmaker.
“He looks great,” Macdonald said of Walker on July 23, per Henderson. “He’s in a great spot mentally. Awesome to see him do all the things we want him to do from the get-go.
“I know he’s really excited about what’s going on. Great first day with Ken.”
Walker is looking to bounce back after missing six games during the 2024 season.
