Seahawks coach details quarterback Jalen Milroe's unreal work ethic

The Seattle Seahawks took a chance on their quarterback of the future in the 2025 NFL Draft.

With the third-round draft pick acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders in the Geno Smith trade, the Seahawks selected Jalen Milroe out of Alabama.

Coming out of college, the Seahawks knew Milroe would be a project and wouldn't start this year. So far, it looks like he's at least got the work ethic to succeed.

According to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak said Milroe has been putting in work, with the quarterback beginning his day as early as 4:30 a.m.

"'The guy is a worker," Kubiak said, "You see him in there at 4:30 in the morning on the field going through his plays. Nobody asked him to do that, but he's putting in extra time. I've seen him grow a lot from rookie minicamp to now, so I've been impressed with the kid.'"

Coming out of the draft, there was no question about Milroe's rushing ability.

At Alabama, Milroe rushed for over 1,500 yards and 33 touchdowns, showcasing his dynamic rushing ability. Although he's an outstanding athlete on the ground, he remains extremely raw as a passer.

"'The guy is putting in a lot of time in learning a brand new way of communicating an offense," Kubiak said. "His ability to make plays with his feet. He's got excellent arm strength, great athleticism, and he's in the process of having his mind catch up to his feet. And the whole offense is doing that, learning a new system. But he's doing a heck of a job at it thus far."

With the physical tools he already possesses, if Milroe is able to clean up his passing mechanics and develop the ability to read defenses, there's no doubt that he could be the Seahawks' quarterback of the future.
