Seahawks already planning two-QB system after surprise Jalen Milroe NFL Draft pick

I dunno if it'll work, but at least it'll be cool.

What I love about the Seahawks' current QB setup is that it really is in the eye of the beholder. Any way you want to spin it is probably, in some form, correct: after proving for *most* of last season that he could be the guy somewhere, Sam Darnold's now The Guy in Seattle. A new, very pricy three-year deal made that clear.

But also: you don't typically draft a QB in the third round if you already have The Guy on the roster. Especially in Seattle, where taking QBs in the third round has become something of lore, drafting a guy that "high" typically means they'll get a chance to prove they can be a starter.

This all brings us to Jalen Milroe, who will spend the entire Seahawks' training camp breathing down Darnold's neck and being the pride of Seahawks Twitter. For those fans who are a little worried that the team spent a great deal of money on a QB just to replace him six games later, don't worry: they're just going to use both! And that always works. ESPN dropped an interesting little nugget of exactly how it'll work in their latest draft intel roundup/listicle/thingy.

The Seahawks' 2-QB system is already a go according to ESPN's latest NFL intel

"The second-round selections of safety Nick Emmanwori and tight end Elijah Arroyo have a chance to pay off early. Seattle traded up to the No. 35 spot for Emmanwori, who generated some first-round buzz and whose physicality/versatility embodies a Mike Macdonald defense ... As for third-round quarterback Jalen Milroe, expect Seattle to have a dual-threat package for him. Those can be hard to implement in-game, but Milroe's ability to affect the game, particularly as a runner, will be hard to ignore as he develops as a quarterback."

You gotta love any system that's both hard to ignore AND hard to implement in-game. A true embarrassment of riches for the Seahawks. Any time the chance to immediately frustrate your franchise QB and put in some packages that obviously tip off run vs. pass, it's worth it.

Maybe this means Milroe is already impressing Seahawks coaches so much that they have no choice but to tell ESPN, just out of pure excitement? That's what I'm going to chose to believe, because otherwise the Seahawks may have a tiny little QB crisis already on their hands.
