The Seattle Seahawks have drafted many Pro Bowl players under general manager John Schneider, including quarterback Russell Wilson.
Wilson was selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seahawks and had an illustrious 10-year tenure with the franchise, leading Seattle to two Super Bowls and a championship win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.
Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos during the 2022 offseason and is set to play for his third different team since leaving the Seahawks. He spent two years in Denver, one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, and is with the New York Giants this year.
Finding a franchise quarterback on Day 2 of the draft is rare, but Seattle found that in Wilson. That is why Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon has Wilson as the second-greatest draft pick in the last 25 years in NFL history, only behind Tom Brady in 2001 to the New England Patriots.
"Here’s another future Hall of Famer with one of the best resumes in league history, but unlike Brees, Rodgers, Jackson and Hurts, Wilson wasn’t even taken in the first two rounds," Gagnon wrote.
Though Wilson's stint with Seattle didn't end very well, the 36-year-old is arguably the greatest Seahawk of all time, and his impact on the franchise is undeniable.
The ten-time Pro Bowler will be enshrined into Canton one day as a Seahawk, and Seattle's decision to select him in Round 3 of the 2012 draft will go down as one of the greatest moves in franchise history.
