San Francisco 49ers Boss Makes Decision on Broncos Trade Candidate

Deebo Samuel's time with the San Francisco 49ers may be officially over, giving many teams like the Denver Broncos good news.

49ers general manager John Lynch said on Feb. 26 that would honor Samuel's request for a trade to a new team. Samuels will likely seek a trade to a Super Bowl contender where the Broncos could be right at the front.

The Broncos have the salary cap space to pay for a high-value, two-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver like Samuel. He is likely also seeking an extension after the 49ers voided a good portion of his contract, making him an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Not only can the Broncos pay Samuel, but they can also make him one of the crucial players in their offense. Head coach Sean Payton wants a "Joker" this season. This is a player who lines up at multiple positions, runs dynamic routes, and even takes direct run plays.

Samuel had his best season in 2022 for the 49ers when he caught 77 receptions for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 365 yards and eight touchdowns on 59 carries. In the last three seasons, Samuel accumulated 167 receptions for 2,194 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 593 yards and nine touchdowns on 121 carries.

A trade package for Samuel might cost Denver a second-round pick or a third-round and sixth-round pick to San Francisco.

The Broncos can give Nix a much-needed elite, dynamic weapon, create more deep passing plays for Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr., and give Samuel a new environment. The Broncos were one of the biggest surprises in 2024, but they can instantly challenge the Kansas City Chiefs for control of the AFC West Division and the AFC altogether.
