Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is very familiar with what Daniel Jones is currently experiencing. It wasn't long ago when, like Jones, Darnold parted with a team in New York a few years after they used a top-10 draft pick on him.
So, when Darnold was asked about his reaction to the Vikings signing Jones on Wednesday, the current Minnesota starting quarterback didn't surprise anyone with his answer.
"Very happy to be teammates with [Daniel Jones]. I've spent some time with him in the past [and he's a] great guy. Just excited to get him in here and be teammates with him. He's played a lot of football, so just to be able to draw from his experience on certain things is going to help this football team."
Jones has already made over $108 million in his NFL career, so landing another huge contract probably isn't the biggest motivator for him at this point in time. Now that he's in Minnesota, he's hoping to follow Darnold's lead and get closer to reaching the potential that some believed he had when he was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
