The New York Giants have their eyes set on several quarterback prospects this offseason. With the NFL Combine approaching, other QB-needy teams will be evaluating the same players, making the competition even tougher.
This year's draft class is headlined by Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. Giants fans have debated which quarterback would be the better fit, but one thing is certain—whoever they select will be an upgrade from last season’s mess.
Most analysts project Ward to go first overall to the Tennessee Titans, but he remains a potential draft target for the Giants. The draft is unpredictable, and if New York stays put at No. 3, Ward could slip to them—or they could even explore moving up to secure him.
Joe Schoen and the Giants’ front office will prioritize Ward until his name is off the board. The Miami quarterback will attract plenty of attention from teams desperate for a franchise signal-caller, but that doesn’t mean he’s the right fit for everyone.
Bleacher Report recently ranked the top 10 prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft and identified their worst landing spots. According to the article, the New Orleans Saints would be the least favorable destination for Ward.
The Saints should not pursue Cam Ward at this year's NFL Draft
The Saints are searching for their next franchise quarterback as they enter a new era under head coach Kellen Moore, fresh off his Super Bowl run as the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator.
New Orleans finished 5-12 last season, placing third in the NFC South behind the Buccaneers and Falcons. That dismal record earned them the ninth overall pick in this year’s draft. While they currently have veteran Derek Carr and second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler on the roster, they could be looking for an upgrade.
However, their draft position makes landing a top quarterback difficult. Ward or Sanders falling to No. 9 is unlikely, meaning the Saints would either need to trade up, target a QB in the later rounds, or explore the free-agent market.
If the Saints were to move up into the top three, Ward wouldn’t be the best fit. New Orleans lacks the offensive firepower to support a young quarterback, with an inconsistent receiving corps and an underwhelming offensive line that would set Ward up for failure.
Instead of going all-in on a quarterback, the Saints should focus on rebuilding their offensive line and bolstering their defense. For now, they remain one of the worst possible landing spots for Ward and should stay far away from the Giants’ dream draft target.
