Russell Wilson signs a one-year deal with the New York Giants

Former Seattle Seahawks legendary quarterback Russell Wilson has found a new home. On Tuesday afternoon, it was announced Wilson would be headed to the Big Apple to be the next quarterback for the New York Giants. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Wilson has signed a one-year, $21 million dollar deal, with $10.5 million fully guaranteed. Wilson is headed to the Meadowlands, the site of his Super Bowl XLVIII victory.

Wilson will join another veteran journeyman, Jameis Winston, who signed with the Giants last Friday. New York will be Wilson's third NFL team in as many seasons, and the fourth of his career.

Seahawks' Russell Wilson is NFL's most accurate quarterback, Football Outsiders says | The Seattle Times

After his disastrous tenure with the Denver Broncos, Wilson attempted to get his career back on track with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 with mild success. A calf injury kept Wilson sidelined for the first five weeks of the season, but once he took the field he led the Steelers to five-straight victories. Unfortunately, Wilson could not prevent the late collapse, as Pittsburgh lost their final four regular season games (three of which by multiple scores) and were dominated in their 28-14 Wild Card loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Overall, Wilson finished 2024 completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns against five interceptions. It was a strong enough performance to show he can still be a viable starter in this league, and his presence in New York will help give the Giants stability at a position they've struggled with for quite some time now... even with Eli Manning still playing.

New York still holds the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, and even with Wilson and Winston on the roster, I don't think anyone should rule out the G-Men from drafting another quarterback.
