The Las Vegas Raiders left tackle Kolton Miller suffered a shoulder injury in Week 9 that caused him to miss Weeks 10, 11, 14, and 15. He would play limited reps in Week 16 and 17 before playing every snap in their season finale. Miller underwent shoulder surgery during the offseason.

Since then, he missed OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

The Las Vegas Raiders offensive tackle wasn’t quite ready for training camp

The Raiders placed Kolton Miller on the active/PUP list before training camp started. As a result, he missed their first four weeks of camp, including their first and second preseason game. Despite not practicing, Antonio Pierce and the medical staff were optimistic that Miller would be ready for the start of the regular season and possibly return to practice after their second preseason game.

“Yeah, well, Kolton Miller has been working out on the side. Jackson (Powers-Johnson) has been doing the same thing. I’m really hoping, I mean, don’t hold me to it, I’m hoping it’s after this week,” Pierce said regarding his out-of-action linemen. “I don’t see it happening during the week, but I’m hoping, after the Dallas game we get those guys back.”

Kolton Miller passed his physical

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Miller passed his physical, and the Raiders activated him off the PUP list. Activating him couldn’t have come at a better time since the Raiders have less than three weeks until they play the Chargers in their season opener, giving him plenty of time to recover, ramp up production, and get him up to speed.

The #Raiders have activated standout OT Kolton Miller from the PUP list. A very good sign.

Who filled in for Kolton Miller

Andrus Peat has received the bulk of the workload at left tackle. The Raiders signed Peat this offseason to serve as the backup tackle and guard. He has primarily played at guard with the Saints but started at left tackle in their last 11 regular season games last season. Now that Miller is back, Peat will serve as the backup tackle.
