It’s has been in the news for almost a week now that the Raiders are looking to trade Davante Adams for a second-round pick.
Some believe the Raiders will have to settle for less, but an ESPN report on Sunday said that team owner Mark Davis is firm on the price.
“The Raiders have let interested teams know that team owner Mark Davis will not accept anything less than a second-round draft pick in return for Adams, along with additional compensation that could be in the form of a draft pick or a player, according to league sources,” Schefter reported on Sunday morning.
The involvement of Davis in the asking price is a position that allows GM Tom Telesco to communicate to teams that they are negotiating with more than just the general manager.
It’s a tactic that can add strength in negotiations.
Schefter added that teams have been “hesitant” to make firm offers for Adams, believing the Raiders will use those offers to establish a trade market for Adams.
What that means for Adams is he could be waiting a while longer before he has a new team.
If teams aren’t willing to send their best offer, the Raiders could decide to wait until closer to the trade deadline and teams can send their ‘take it or leave it’ offer at that time.
