Report: Packers Linked To Robert Saleh In Coaching Role After New York Jets Firing

Many Green Bay Packers fans and other NFL fans were shocked to hear that the New York Jets fired Robert Saleh as head coach on Tuesday. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will be the next interim head coach.

Many people thought that former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers played a huge role in Saleh’s firing. The Packers are in a better spot right now than the New York Jets.

Green Bay Packers Reporter Thinks That Robert Saleh Could Join the Green Bay Packers Coaching Staff

Before Saleh was a head coach in the NFL, he was the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. After the New York Jets fired Robert Saleh, many wondered what his next move would be. Some think he could be a defensive coordinator with someone. However, Packers Writer reporter Zach Krause reported this about the Packers and Saleh:

“Saleh was the best man at Matt LaFleur’s wedding. He worked with Jeff Hafley in San Francisco. Saleh coming to Green Bay in some kind of consultant role is not out of the realm of possibility.”

The Green Bay Packers defense has improved this season under defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. The only thing that Green Bay is missing is a consistent pass rush.

Would Be a Great Move For Them

It would be a great move for the Packers to get Saleh on the coaching staff. He was not the reason why the New York Jets defense was bad. The Jets’ defense was one of the best in the league and one of the most consistent on a week-to-week basis.

With the offense the Packers have, hiring Saleh could unlock the defense to another level. The odds are that he may not take a role with Green Bay however because he may take the rest of the 2024 season and view his options for 2025 and beyond.
