REPORT – Las Vegas Raiders Elite Rookie Talent Turns Heads at Training Camp Practice – 2024 Offseason
With the 13th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders selected Georgia football product and tight end Brock Bowers. The 21-year-old Bowers became just the 11th tight end to go in the front half of the first round of the NFL draft in the past 30 years. Some NFL talking heads scratched their head over the selection of Bowers, with Las Vegas selecting fellow tight end Michael Mayer in the second round of the previous draft. However, the early returns on the Bowers selection have oozed exceptional promise, with the All-American going bonkers during training camp activities on Friday.
Las Vegas Raiders Tight End Brock Bowers: Impresses In Training Camp on Friday
It’s still early, but the Las Vegas Raiders may have found this year’s version of Sam LaPorta in Brock Bowers. The Georgia product became an unstoppable force during the team’s 1-on-1 session on Friday, becoming a vacuum for footballs in the red zone. According to Logan Reever, Bowers caught three straight-back shoulder fades for touchdowns in the red area. Additionally, Bowers pinned the ball to the helmet for a circus-like catch while working in 1-on-1 drills. Meanwhile, Raiders media personality J.T. the Brick has seen enough from Bowers to crown him the next Dave Casper.
Brock Bowers is a force here in redzone 1-on-1s.

“I can do a two-hour radio show here every day for eleven days just on Brock Bowers. I am all in on this guy. Let me explain why. He is the greatest tight end in the history of college football, no debate. He won two Mackey Awards and two national championships. No one has ever done that. He is on the Mount Rushmore of Georgia players to ever play. That includes Richard Seymour and Hershel Walker.
The legends. He is among the top four players ever to play. He was a gift from the sports gods to get him. He dropped all the way to the Raiders at 13. I had him going anywhere from 7 to 10. The fact that the Raiders got him means he has to be great and elite. A perennial Pro-Bowler. As a rookie, he can be that type of guy.”
Bowers: Elite College Football Product
Brock Bowers, formerly of the Georgia Bulldogs, starred during his tenure with the SEC program. A four-star prospect in the class of 2021, Bowers ranked as the second overall tight-end recruit per 247Sports. Bowers shined as a true freshman, recording 56 receptions, 882 yards, and 13 touchdowns en route to a national title victory and SEC Freshman of the Year honors. Bowers won his first of two John Mackey Awards in 2022, snagging 63 passes for 942 yards and seven scores. Georgia won another title while Bowers became a first-team All-American.
Bowers returned for his third and final season with Georgia in 2023, catching 56 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns in a career-low ten games. However, Bowers again earned All-American honors and eventually became the 13th overall pick to the Las Vegas Raiders.
