Report: Cooper Kupp's trade value could be similar to Keenan Allen's last year

The Los Angeles Rams have begun trying to trade Cooper Kupp but it’s a difficult situation because of the wide receiver’s contract. The Rams must find a team willing to take on the remainder of his deal, which could include a $7.5 million roster bonus if he’s traded before the middle of March.

They’ve yet to find a trade partner but it’s clear the Rams will be moving on from Kupp. It just remains to be seen what they’ll get in return for him, assuming they’re able to trade him instead of having to cut the receiver.

Adam Schefter of ESPN provided an update on the situation and having talked to people around the NFL, they believe Kupp’s value is similar to Keenan Allen’s from a year ago. Allen was traded from the Chargers to the Bears for a fourth-round pick last year, so that could be an indication of what Los Angeles might get in return.

“The interesting part here is that there’s a lot of money involved, $20 million and a $7.5 million roster bonus due in the middle of March,” Schefter said. “The Rams are willing to pay some of that money. I think when you speak to people around the league, they see Keenan Allen go last year for a fourth-round pick, and they believe that Cooper Kupp is in a similar situation.”

Kupp has a base salary of $12.5 million in 2025, which is actually less than Allen’s salary of $18.1 million. Kupp is also 31 years old, which is the same age as Allen at the time of the trade to Chicago last year.

Both wide receivers have dealt with injuries throughout their careers and both are regarded as outstanding locker room leaders, so it is a very similar situation, as Schefter said. If the Rams can get a fourth-round pick for Kupp, they should view that as a win.
