Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars has attracted its fair share of controversy. Having Gene Simmons as a guest judge on Hair Metal Night was a disaster. His inappropriate comments about the contestants and pro dancer’s appearances were creepy as hell. Plus, the show’s decision to cast convicted criminal and con artist Anna Delvey also resulted in a swift backlash. However, after her Week 2 elimination, she did not go away quietly.
What did Anna Delvey say about DWTS Season 33?
As you may recall, Anna was convicted of several charges of fraud in 2019. After she was released from prison in 2021, she was taken into Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) custody. The reason? She overstayed her visa. In 2022, Anna was given a tracking anklet and put under house arrest in New York while she fought her deportation.
After her ballroom elimination, Anna went on Tori Spelling’s podcast, misSpelling. Tori was also sent home at the same time as Anna. “You guys told me what I’m supposed to do. I tried to do it, and then I still was rejected,” Anna said of the judges. She also questioned how she was sent home instead of contestants who landed on lower spots on the leaderboard.
Then, Anna accused DWTS of using her to bring up their ratings. “I feel that the show so obviously used me to drive up the ratings,” Anna previously stated, “that they never had any plans to give me any chance to grow and only cared about exploiting me for attention.” She added, “It was predatory of them to try [to] make me feel inadequate and stupid all while I did get progressively better yet they chose to disregard that.” I don’t think that Anna understands how the viewer’s votes work.
Anna Delvey reportedly wasn’t invited to the DWTS finale
Well, it seems like Anna can reportedly kiss her invitation for a ballroom return goodbye. An insider told Radar Online that Anna allegedly won’t be appearing during the Season 33 DWTS finale. Traditionally, all the competitors from the season return to take one more spin around the ballroom. Unless you bash the show. “They just didn’t want the drama that Anna could stir up,” the source explained.
Still, I feel bad for Anna’s partner, Ezra Sosa. This was his first season as a pro, and he has always been positive and complimentary about Anna. Hopefully, he will be a pro again next season.
