Redshirt freshman Cole Adams flying under the radar at wide receiver

The Alabama receiver room has gotten a lot of buzz this offseason. Bama fans have already seen juniors Kobe Prentice and Kendrick Law contribute in some capacity. Washington transfer Germie Bernard and true freshman Ryan Williams are by far the most enticing new additions, followed by 6’5” freak of nature Caleb Odom.

Even amongst the remaining returnees, junior Emmanuel Henderson Jr. is the most intriguing despite having just one career catch. Henderson Jr. has top end speed and positional versatility, having been recruited as a blue chip running back.

Though he has continuously impressed throughout the 2024 offseason, redshirt freshman Cole Adams has flown under the radar. The second-year player who coaches and teammates call “Mr. Reliable” could prove to be a valuable weapon in the slot in the Crimson Tide offense. Though he is just 5’10”, Adams excels at finding pockets in zone coverage and could help Alabama in the third down situations that sometimes gave it issues last season.

Cole Adams was a 4-star recruit out of Owasso, Oklahoma in the class of 2023. He acclimated to the offense well in his first season on campus, getting snaps in two late-season games against Kentucky and Chattanooga. He made two receptions in that Chattanooga game, one each from backup quarterbacks Ty Simpson and Dylan Lonergan.

Heading into his redshirt freshman campaign, he has clearly endeared himself to the new coaching staff and should be in the rotation at wide receiver this season. He runs sharp routes, displays good hands, and has underrated speed as a former track athlete. Additionally, wide receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard has praised his toughness among other attributes.

Kobe Prentice already gives the Tide a veteran presence in the slot and has proven capabilities as a possession-type receiver. Adams figures to provide Alabama with another option in this critical role.
