Reddit Former Dolphins Defensive Tackle Signs With Chargers

The Miami Dolphins have signed several players in the early stages of Free Agency, but they've yet to address the defensive line. To make matters worse, they lost one of their depth options from the past two seasons.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, "The (Los Angeles) Chargers have agreed to terms with DT Da’Shawn Hand on a one-year deal worth up to $3.35 million."

Hand played 17 games for Miami last season, totaling 31 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and six run stuffs. He provided much-needed depth on the defensive line.

After four seasons at Alabama, Hand was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fourth round (No. 114 overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He lasted four seasons in Detroit before spending the last two in Miami.

In 6 NFL seasons, Hand has 102 tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 11 run stuffs. Now, he's off to Los Angeles as a depth option for head coach Jim Harbaugh.

For Miami, Hand's departure creates another hole on the defensive line. He wasn't a regular starter during his two-year tenure, but he played above expectations when given the opportunity.

Miami must have a plan for their interior defensive line, but it's difficult to see what it is at the moment. They have a fairly deep EDGE/OLB group- Chop Robinson, Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, Quinton Bell, and Mohamed Kamara- but they have nothing outside of the criminally underrated Zach Sieler on the defensive line.
