Ravens Rookie Kicker Sends Bold Message on Replacing Justin Tucker

The Baltimore Ravens were forced into an unexpected change at the kicker position this offseason, as franchise legend Justin Tucker was released back in May after a slew of sexual misconduct allegations were brought against him. With Tucker gone, the Ravens selected Tyler Loop in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to come in and replace him.

Replacing Tucker isn’t going to be an easy task, even in the wake of what was the worst season of his career in 2025. However, Loop isn’t all that concerned about the task at hand, and he sent a strong message on his thoughts on replacing Tucker that will surely get Ravens fans everywhere fired up.

Tyler Loop Not Worried About Replacing Justin Tucker

Loop spent five seasons with the Arizona Wildcats, acting as their starting kicker in his final three years with the team. In 2025, Loop nailed 18 of his 23 field goal attempts, while only missing two of his extra-point attempts. It wasn’t his most proficient season, but his leg strength is rare, and Baltimore believes it can help him improve his accuracy.

Coming in as the team’s new kicker after Tucker isn’t going to be easy, though. Baltimore’s former kicker had long been considered the best kicker in the league, racking up seven Pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro First Team honors. He struggled in 2024, hitting just 73.3% of his field goal attempts, but the Ravens had full faith in him anytime they got in field goal range.

It’s going to take some time for Loop to earn that same sort of trust from Baltimore, but he isn’t too concerned about that. When asked whether he feels any sort of pressure in replacing Tucker, Loop quickly said no, saying the only thing he is worried about is controlling what he can control and perfecting his process during training camp.

“I think it can be pressure if you focus on it,” Loop said, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN. “But if we’re focused on what I can control, my process, all that stuff, it just, it’s one of those things.”

Even with his struggles last season, the Ravens clearly weren’t planning on moving on from Tucker until his off-field issues popped up. Tucker netted himself a 10-game suspension, but considering the team’s investment of a sixth-round draft pick in Loop, a reunion later in the season does not seem likely, unless Loop struggles mightily in his transition to the pros.

For now, Loop is working on blocking out all the noise surrounding him as he continues to prepare for his rookie campaign. Coming in and taking over for one of the greatest kickers in NFL history is no easy task, but early in training camp, Loop has looked up to the task. And if he can hit a high percentage of his kicks right out of the game, fans will forget about Tucker before they know it.
