Aside from the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, the Baltimore Ravens are the most complete team in the NFL. However, no team is perfect. With that reality, analyst have spent the offseason trying to figure out what Baltimore’s biggest concern is as training camp nears. The consensus answer was the interior offensive line.
Analysts haven’t argued that the Ravens will be bad on the interior offensive line, but the unit has been pointed out as a question mark because of the changeover. With Patrick Mekari leaving in free agency, Andrew Vorhees will play a bigger role, and Daniel Faalele is expected to improve in his second season as a full time starter.
While both guys could deliver, and this may not end up being a concern for Baltimore at all, the team does have a veteran option it could add for help. Veteran lineman Will Hernandez could be a good, late-offseason pick up for the Ravens.
Hernandez was drafted by the New York Giants in the second round of the 2018 Draft, and he has since had a productive career. Playing four years with the Giants, he appeared in 62 games, starting 56, at mostly left guard but also some right guard. He then joined the Arizona Cardinals, playing the last three seasons with them. In Arizona, he started all 35 games he played in.
His season unfortunately ended after five games because of a knee injury, and now he’s a free agent searching for a new home. The veteran lineman will turn 30 in September, so he should still be able to provide solid play if healthy. The Ravens should take a look at him and see how healthy he is, because he could be a valuable depth linemen in Baltimore, and also be a capable starter if necessary.
