The Los Angeles Rams are moving full steam ahead into the next phase of their offseason (as is every other team in the National Football League). Are there any areas that the Rams should focus on at this time? Is there anything the team should work on before the team comes together again for more practice and preparation? Do you have any areas of concern for this team in general?
Happy belated Father’s Day! It’s Monday so please comment if you can, but I understand if you can’t make the time! Either way thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!
After mini (camp) previews, these are questions Rams must answer in training camp (latimes.com)
“If Stafford reports and his contract issues remain unresolved, McVay and other players will be asked about it every day. And Stafford — who has not spoken to reporters who cover the Rams since January — also will face questions at every availability.
How to compensate for loss of Aaron Donald
Second-year pro Kobie Turner is the main building block new defensive coordinator Chris Shula has to compensate for the loss of the pillar that was Donald.
The Rams drafted Florida edge rusher Jared Verse in the first round and Seminoles tackle Braden Fiske in the second. The former teammates showed signs of their familiarity and nonverbal communication during workouts, coaches said. Nose tackle Bobby Brown III has lacked consistency but is in a contract year.”
Los Angeles Rams Acquire Davante Adams from Las Vegas Raiders in Bonkers Trade Proposal (gridironheroics)
“In a recent article posted on Bleacher Report by NFL analyst Gary Davenport, it is suggested that Los Angeles trade away a first round pick for Adams, who will be stuck playing with mediocre quarterbacks for the foreseeable future:
“The Rams admittedly don’t really need Adams—Puka Nacua was a revelation as a rookie, breaking a 60-year-old record for receiving yards by a first-year player. Cooper Kupp has struggled with injuries the past two seasons, but in 2021 he won the receiving “Triple Crown” –leading the NFL in receptions, yards and receiving scores.
“Adding Adams to that mix would give Matthew Stafford the most dangerous trio of wide receivers in the league.
“It wouldn’t be cheap—but there’s no general manager in the NFL more willing to deal first-rounders than Les Snead. 2024 was the first time Los Angeles picked in Round 1 since taking Jared Goff first overall in 2016. It wouldn’t be easy to get Adams’ salary under the cap, either—but teams play that shell game all the time.
“Want to seriously threaten a loaded San Francisco 49ers team in the NFC West in 2024?
“This is the kind of move it’s going to take.”
As Davenport mentions, trading for Adams would cost the team a first round pick next season. However, Adams is also under contract through 2026, which may be worth it to the Rams.”
Is Rams’ Matthew Stafford Best QB In NFC? (si.com)
“Stafford is a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and the only quarterback in the NFC to have won the Super Bowl as a starter. He’s the fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach 30,000, 40,000, and 50,000 passing yards, and is one of a select club who have thrown for 5,000 yards in a season or have multiple 40+ passing touchdown seasons.
Stafford doesn’t have nearly as many Pro Bowls, All-Pro, or honors as many great quarterbacks do at his age, but a lot of that is due to spending the majority of his career with the Detroit Lions. Stafford led the Lions to the playoffs three times, but the team was never able to consistently succeed during his tenure there.
His Lions also had to challenge the Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers for division titles. He’s also dealt with some bad timing. During one of Stafford’s best seasons in 2011 when he threw for over 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns, three other quarterbacks had MVP-type seasons with Tom Brady and Drew Brees also surpassing 5,000 yards and Rodgers winning MVP as the Packers went 15-1and he threw 45 touchdowns.”
Abdul Carter draft introduction (By Ferragamo15 on Jun 16, 2024)
“The Lion
Micah Parson’s pass rushing metrics are insane. In 2023, he had by far the best pass rush win rate among EDGE defenders in the NFL, despite having by far the highest double team rate. He led EDGE defenders in PRWR in 2022. Per SIS stats, Parsons led all DEs and LBs (min 200 pass rush snaps) in QB pressure rate at 20.4% (Ernest Jones had a 25.0% pressure rate but didn’t have enough pass rush snaps to qualify.) Parsons had 87 total pressures in 2023 after getting 80 in 2022. Parsons had more pressures last season than Kobie Turner and Byron Young combined. He has 40.5 sacks in 3 NFL seasons. Parsons is a dominant force that forces opponents to change their gameplans to try to stop in a similar way to how McVay had to build a gameplan around blocking Myles Garrett and Rams opponents had to come up with ways to slow down Aaron Donald.
Abdul Carter has been compared to Parsons. Carter played inside linebacker last season for Penn State but is moving to EDGE rusher for 2024. Is he an uber athletic LB the Rams might target as a replacement for Ernest Jones? Will he be a transcendent pass rusher who will someday lead the NFL in sacks?
