Aaron Donald shared a message for the newest Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse. You can view the message below and it’s about as much of a “passing the torch moment” as you’ll see. Donald shares his excitement, but Verse but also expresses that Verse shouldn’t be done yet. The Los Angeles Rams shouldn’t be done yet.
A great moment for sure. Maybe Verse can follow-up this season with a Defensive Player of the Year next season? We’ll find out.
Comment on whatever you want, thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great Saturday!
Jared Verse wins AP 2024 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (therams.com)
“He is the first Rams player to win the award since Aaron Donald in 2014 and the third player overall in franchise history since the award started being handed out in 1967 – linebacker Isiah Robertson took it home for the 1971 season.
“First things first, I got to thank God. Without him, none of this would’ve been possible, I wouldn’t be here today, I wouldn’t be in front of all of y’all today,” Verse said in his acceptance speech. “My parents, I have to thank them, my beautiful mom, my dad right there, without y’all giving the mindset I have today, I would never be here. My siblings, y’all are some of the people who mean the most to me in this world, I would die for y’all and I love y’all to the moon and back. I want to thank my teammates and my coaches and everybody like that, but I think we have to take a second to realize the other recipients that could’ve been here today. Shoutout Q (Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell), Coop (Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean), (Rams defensive end Braden) Fiske, it could’ve been anyone one of y’all up here and y’all would’ve deserved it. Thank y’all for tonight. Thank you for this.”
Vikings Get Surprising News on Rams QB Matthew Stafford (heavy.com)
“J.J. McCarthy is nearing a full recovery from meniscus surgery last August but will need a veteran buffer if the Vikings deem him not ready to start. Minnesota tested Daniel Jones for that role by signing for the remainder of the 2024 season.
However, another veteran could be tapped to take over in Minnesota — Matthew Stafford.”

Two guys from Louisville... (By CDNGolfer on Feb 7, 2025)
“With the success we’ve had with our FSU twins, Verse and Fiske, I can see a trend developing in future drafts where you draft teammates. It makes absolute sense to anticipate them complimenting each other going forward. Here are two to consider.
When I was watching the Senior Bowl I noticed one QB with a seriously quick release and made a mental note to keep an eye on him. The next day I see he’s been voted best QB of the week by the DB’s they all faced. Hmmmmmm okay. Lets find some clips. First one I saw I’ll try to load in the comments. It’s a sidearm, almost wrist flip to the backline of the end zone where his arm almost comes from down under. Remarkable. Here is some tape from Senior Bowl week and his season. Not many QB’s can make those throws rolling to his left as comfortably as he does. Shough is 6’5” 225”
