Rams Urged to Consider Former 2nd-Round WR to Help Replace Cooper Kupp

Although the Los Angeles Rams signed veteran receiver Davante Adams, the team could still use another addition at receiver. In all likelihood, wideout is a position the Rams will address in the 2025 NFL Draft. But Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox also named the Rams a fit for veteran Elijah Moore.Rams Urged to Consider Former 2nd-Round WR to Help Replace Cooper Kupp - BVM Sports

Knox labeled Moore the one player still available in free agency that could help the Rams in 2025.

“Facing a $2.4 million cap deficit, L.A.’s options are limited. However, the Rams might be able to afford taking a flier on Elijah Moore,” wrote Knox.

“The 25-year-old hasn’t played up to his status as a 2021 second-round pick. However, he’s also been saddled with poor quarterback play in New York and Cleveland. His speed (4.35-second 40-yard dash) could add another element to the Rams’ passing attack.”

The New York Jets drafted Moore at No. 34 overall in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Moore starred at Ole Miss, posting 86 catches for 1,193 receiving yards with eight touchdowns in only eight games during 2020.

But Moore barely eclipsed that total in 27 contests over two seasons with the Jets. Moore then spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

In 61 NFL games, Moore has posted 200 catches and 2,162 receiving yards. The receiver has also scored nine touchdowns.

What WR Elijah Moore Could Bring to Rams

It’s never a bad idea for a Sean McVay offense to take a flier on a speedy wide receiver.

Moore didn’t carve out a role as the Jets wanted him to. But he has eclipsed the 500-yard mark three times in his career. As a rookie, Moore scored five touchdowns as well.

To Knox’s point about Moore suffering because of poor quarterback play, the speedy wideout has never averaged more than 12.5 yards per reception in an NFL season. During his final season at Ole Miss, Moore averaged nearly 14 yards per catch.

The quarterbacks he has played with weren’t exactly down-field throwers. Zach Wilson, Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston were the primary starters for Moore’s offense during his first four NFL seasons.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford would immediately become the best quarterback Moore has ever played with in the NFL if he signed with the Rams.

How Moore Fits With Los Angeles

Kupp isn’t the only receiver the Rams lost in free agency this offseason. In addition to Kupp, veterans Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson both departed to sign with other teams.

Together, those three receivers combined for 124 catches, 1,506 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. Robinson led the Rams with seven receiving scores.

That’s a lot of production to replace. Adams might be a production replacement for Kupp, who had 710 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 2024, but the Rams still need more receiving depth.

That’s where Moore could come in. Even though he hasn’t lived up to his second-round hype, Moore, at the very least, is a reliable target who could help replace the departed receiving production in Los Angeles.

Moore caught a career-high 61 passes with Cleveland last season. He has also occasionally provided his offense another running game option.

In his 61 games, Moore has rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown. At Ole Miss, he also had 71 rushing yards.
