The Los Angeles Rams have a chance to do something no other team in the NFC West has been able to accomplish this season - hand the Buffalo Bills their first loss vs the division. Thus far, Buffalo has had their way with the West, particularly on offense, scoring at least 31 pts in each of their three games vs the Cardinals, Seahawks and 49ers and going 3-0. While MVP candidate QB Josh Allen is an intimidating player to welcome to Sofi, LA is confident coming off a win vs the Saints which saw the team put together a solid performance.
Another victory has also helped boost the confidence of the fan base. According to our survey, it looks like it’s going to be another week aboard the up-and-down rollercoaster that is this season, with the confidence vote rising back up from 48% last week to 74% this week.
The Rams continued their struggles to get in the end zone in the first half vs. New Orleans, but seemed make their way back on track after halftime. Head coach Sean McVay and the offense found that balance was the key to success, with QB Matthew Stafford throwing two touchdown passes and RB Kyren Williams rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
While LA’s win has helped the fans believe again, nationally there is a major lack of faith in the Rams ability to pull off the upset against Buffalo. According to our survey, 84% of fans believe that the Bills will win at Sofi and cover the spread. At the time of this article, Los Angeles comes into Sunday’s game as the underdogs getting +4.5 according to FanDuel.
The two teams are in drastically different positions heading into Week 14. The Bills were able to clinch the AFC East last week after their 35-10 smashing of San Francisco. Meanwhile the Rams are on the outside looking in for a playoff spot, facing a very hard path to a Wild Card position.
According to our survey, the Packers and Vikings currently neck and neck for title of most dangerous NFC Wild Card team. Green Bay may have suffered a loss at the hands of the Detroit Lions on TNF, but they took the current 12-1 NFC number one seed team to the last minute of the game, and frankly, looked like they could hang with the best the conference has to offer.
It’s going to be a tough battle to steal a win from the Bills but the Rams may need to as they cannot afford losses at this stage of the game. The NFC is incredibly competitive with teams like the Vikings, Packers and Commanders being real contenders, but surprisingly still finding themselves in Wild Card positions rather than in divisional seeds. With their win-loss record being almost out of reach for fringe teams to catch up to, it has forced the likes of the Rams, Cardinals and Bucs to focus more on the easier path of gaining back the division lead to secure a playoff position rather than trying to claim back one of the Wild Cards.
