Rams QB Matthew Stafford Has Hilarious Response In Regards To The Olympic Flag Football Team

The Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford are back on the field for offseason team activities. While the focus is on the season ahead, the chemistry that is being built with new teammates, such as WR Davante Adams, and how the team can overcome their divisional round defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, there is always room for some random off-the-field questions.

The City of Los Angeles will be hosting the Summer Olympics in 2028. For the first time, in those Olympics, flag football will be a sanctioned sport.

This has gotten many fans and members of the media thinking about which NFL players would be best suited for the US team.

Rams QB Matthew Stafford To Play For USA Flag Football Team?

On Thursday, Matthew Stafford was asked about the idea of NFL Players playing on the flag football team and if he would be interested in being a part of it.

He immediately smirked at the thought with a wry grin.

“You talking about coaching, or what?” Stafford replied jokingly. “Sure [I’d be interested in playing], but nobody’s going to want me to. But sure, it’d be fun, I’ll coach.”

When the Olympics roll around in July of 2028, Stafford will be right around 40 years old. However, flag football does not have 300-pound defensive linemen barreling down on you, so there is no doubt that even at 40, Stafford would be plenty good to lead the team if he wanted.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was also asked about his interest in playing, in which he responded that he would leave it to the younger guys.

It will be interesting to see how the team is built once that time comes. Stafford most likely will not be on it, but maybe he will actually get the call to coach?
