Rams part ways with cornerback who they added last month

Facing a rash of injuries at the cornerback position last month, the Los Angeles Rams signed former Lions cornerback Jerry Jacobs to a deal they hoped could at least last until the end of the preseason. Unfortunately that has not been the case, as the Rams waived Jacobs on Tuesday with, what else, an injury settlement.

Though the Rams won’t get Derion Kendrick back this year, the position is looking better off as long as Darious Williams returns from a hamstring injury before Week 1. This move would imply that despite Williams not practicing yet, the team thinks they’ll be alright at corner anyway. The team may not feel great about second-year corner Tre Tomlinson just yet, but undrafted rookie Josh Wallace has been a recent standout.

Overall, there’s no question that cornerback has been an issue to solve since the end of last season, which is why Williams and Tre White were signed. Jacobs was a late addition to that group and now he’s an early waive.
