Though the Rams listed Jared Verse and A.J. Jackson as questionable to play against the Bills this weekend, Sean McVay expects both to play and that the team is only being “smart” with both players. Therefore, the Rams only had to make one practice squad elevation this week, calling up cornerback Charles Woods to face Buffalo.
This will be Woods’ ninth game of the season, so the rookie is no stranger to Sundays.
An undrafted free agent out of SMU, the 5’11 Woods has made one tackle this season. He has played 130 snaps on special teams and just 13 on defense.
The Rams need all the wins they can get in order to stay in the NFC West playoff race. Barring a tie, either the Seahawks or Cardinals will lose this week since they play each other:
- Seahawks 7-5
- Cardinals 6-6
- Rams 6-6
- 49ers 5-7
If the Rams can improve to 7-6, they could be in a three-way tie for the division lead with four games left on the schedule.
If they lose, they won’t be dead but they’ll be deeper in the woods than they’ve been all season.
