Rams Linked to 5-Time Pro Bowl WR in Bold FA Prediction

The Los Angeles Rams already made headlines this offseason by signing star wide receiver Davante Adams to a two-year deal and releasing fan-favorite Cooper Kupp. Puka Nacua is having a breakout start to his career, and re-signing Tutu Atwell to a one-year, $10 million deal, it seems the Rams are set at wide receiver heading into the 2025 NFL season.

Rams Linked to Pro Bowl WR Amari Cooper in Bold FA Prediction

But Bleacher Report sees things differently.

Bleacher Report Predicts Another Splash Move for the Rams’ Receiving Corps

According to a recent prediction by BR, the Rams could pursue free agent wideout Amari Cooper to bolster their aerial attack. Here’s what they had to say on the potential signing.

“At 31, coming off a down year, Amari Cooper isn’t going to break the bank in his first offseason as a free agent. As a perennial postseason contender, the Rams could appeal to the five-time Pro Bowler who may want a chance to play in the Super Bowl at this stage in his career. In Los Angeles, Cooper would join a playoff-caliber team that has a well-respected quarterback under center. Nacua, Adams and Cooper would be one of the league’s top receiver trios.”

Cooper, a five-time Pro Bowler, is still one of the smoothest route-runners in the game. Being a free agent this late in the season typically means he’ll come at a cheap cost, and the Rams still have $20.2 million in cap space.

From a pure personnel standpoint, it’s a luxury Matthew Stafford has never fully had in his career — three high-IQ receivers who can win at all levels of the field. But is this the type of move the Rams need to make?

Why Adding Amari Cooper May Be a Luxury, Not a Necessity

While the idea of forming a three-headed monster at wide receiver sounds exciting, signing Cooper may not be the most efficient or necessary move for the Rams.

The team has more pressing needs, particularly in the secondary. With that $20 million in cap space, the Rams could allocate those funds towards a position of need or even a younger player.

Beyond that, bringing in another established name could make things complicated for Nacua and Adams, who both command the ball. If the Rams are attempting to thread the needle between contending now and setting up for the future, it doesn’t make sense to add an aging wideout when the team already added Adams, who’s 32 years old.

Signing Cooper would undeniably make headlines, and perhaps even make the Rams one of the most feared offenses in the NFC on paper. But with limited targets to go around, and other roster needs to address, Bleacher Report’s bold prediction will likely just stay as a prediction and not become a reality. The Rams have the cap space to make a splash move, but this might not be the one they need.
