The Los Angeles Rams signed wide receiver Davante Adams to a two-year, $44 million contract this offseason, putting him on a Super Bowl contender.
He will reunite with former teammate Jimmy Garoppolo, who played with him on the Las Vegas Raiders.
Adams joined ESPN LA’s Sedano and Kap at training camp and was asked about playing with Jimmy G again.
“It’s amazing,” the wide receiver said. “I love Jimmy and it was never a personal thing. It’s been amazing. We got to catch up and get on the right page. Obviously, that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there and we kind of caught up and laughed about it. We’ve been making plays since we’ve been out here.”
Adams and Garoppolo played one season together in Las Vegas. The pair’s highest recorded game together saw Adams catch 13 passes for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Playing With Jimmy G

Starting quarterback Matthew Stafford is currently listed as week-to-week in Rams training camp, dealing with back soreness.
The short-term chemistry Adams and Garoppolo have could be vital to the team on gameday.
“I don’t see [Jimmy] as a backup quarterback. He’s a starting-caliber player,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said on ESPN LA. “We’re really fortunate to have somebody as special as Matthew [Stafford]. I’m really grateful he chose to come back to us. He had a lot of other options. We love working with him. He’s got such reverence for Matthew.”
“It’s a really special quarterback room in general. We do feel really lucky. But it’ll be great to get number nine back out there, but in the meantime, Jimmy’s holding it down and doing a really nice job.”
Garoppolo returns to the LA Rams on a one-year contract worth $4 million to return for his second season in Los Angeles.
Jimmy G has only seen the field once in his time with the Rams, throwing for 334 yards and 2 touchdowns in the regular season finale against the Seattle Seahawks last season.
Achieving an NFL Historic Mark

There has yet to be a wide receiver who eclipsed 2,000 receiving yards in a single season throughout the NFL’s history.
The two closest to that goal are Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson and former Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who logged 1,964 and 1,947 yards, respectively.
Davante Adams said on the Kay Adams Show that he thinks he can reach 2k receiving yards.
Stafford was the quarterback who was targeting Calvin Johnson when “Megatron” almost achieved an NFL first.
With it being unknown how long starting quarterback Matthew Stafford will be out, Adams’ numbers may not reach that number in his first year in Los Angeles.
Adams’ highest recorded receiving yards in a season is 1,553 during his time in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball.
