The Rams needed to address their linebacker situation after losing Christian Rozeboom in free agency, who led Los Angeles with 135 total tackles.
LA brought in LBs through free agency and the draft to reinforce the position. But a linebacker on a veteran minimum who has been making waves and is considered a steal in free agency by an NFL writer.
Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon names linebacker Nate Landman as a steal in the 2025 Free Agency, a big part due to the player’s contract.
“The 26-year-old went undrafted in 2022 but stood out with 110 tackles, three forced fumbles, two sacks and an interception as a sophomore in Atlanta. A calf injury marred his 2024 campaign, but he’s looking to rebound on a prove-it deal with the Rams in 2025,”
Why he looks like a steal: Head coach Sean McVay has already praised Landman heavily, stating that “he’s got great command. He’s got the ability to elevate people. He’s got a great feel for attacking the football.” He’s also already got the green dot at practice, and he’s been cited as a standout on X. Pretty awesome considering that he’s one of the lowest-paid veterans in the league.”
Missing 4 games due to injuries, Landman was able to produce 81 tackles and 3 forced fumbles in his last year with the Falcons.

Nate Landman joins a youthful Los Angeles Rams defense that had a strong showing in the 2024-25 regular season and playoffs.
The linebacker credits McVay and credits the culture he created in Los Angeles.
“Now it’s just me coming in here, assimilating to that culture and bringing what I can bring to it. Just being myself, coming in there every day,” Landman said. “The front we have in front of me, those guys are insanely smart. They play super hard. They’re running out the stack. They’re playmakers. They’re talking.”
“Just guys that I can trust, guys elevating my game, allowing me to be a better linebacker and better leader.”
Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula describes Landman as a stud and as a player “who is always in the right spot.”

Being the playcaller on the field in training camp and being highlighted by his head coach, Nate Landman seems likely to be a starter for the Rans at the start of the regular season.
The linebacker will pair up with second-year teammate Omar Speights in the middle of the field.
“Me and Omar are super close,” Landman said, via Sports Illustrated. “I think our whole linebacker unit’s super close. You could see synergy throughout the whole room, so it’s not just me and ‘O’ [Speights] but something that, ‘Money’ [Inside Linebackers Coach Greg Williams] instilled in us, in the group and the way we run our meetings.”
“I think as a whole unit, we’re super close knit, we hang out outside just the [meeting] room. We’re having lunch together, we’re watching film together. We’re roommates here while we’re in camp. That shared grind that we’re in allows us to have that close knit group.”
Both linebackers will set an increase in snaps for Los Angeles, and will be a key piece of their defense.
