Raiders Sign Former Jaguars First-Round Pick

The Las Vegas Raiders entered the 2024 NFL season with an understanding that it could be another rebuilding year.

They’ve had a tough time finding a solid, consistent quarterback, and even though they’ve settled on Gardner Minshew for now, he doesn’t appear to be a long-term solution.

For whatever reason, this team lacks an identity, making it difficult to have sustained success in this league.

After losing their opening game to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Raiders decided they needed to add a few players.

As the team recently highlighted on X, they signed defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson and cornerback Kyu Blue Kelly.

Both players will be on the practice squad now, but Chaisson might have a legitimate shot to get playing time.

Chaisson was the No. 20 overall pick in the 2020 draft.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had high hopes for him but released him after the 2023 campaign.

Carolina gave him a brief shot on their practice squad but quickly released him.

With any luck, Chaisson can thrive in the Raiders organization, potentially finding a role on a new team.

He had the best year of his career in 2021, logging 31 total tackles and one sack.

Chaisson does have a few good years of NFL experience under his belt, which can be an asset to any team.

Whether the Raiders bring him up to the active roster remains to be seen.

But, if they want to try and change things up, it might not be a bad idea.
