Raiders officially announce re-signing of five exclusive rights free agents

The Las Vegas Raiders announced more than the extension of quarterback Geno Smith on Monday.

According to a team announcement, the Raiders have re-signed five exclusive rights free agents. The players in question are defensive tackle Matthew Butler, linebacker Kana’i Mauga, offensive guard Jordan Meredith, defensive end Charles Snowden and cornerback Sam Webb. The re-signings of Butler, Meredith and Webb were reported on earlier, but this is the first time Mauga and Snowden have been reported as remaining with the Raiders.

Mauga will be returning for his third season with the Raiders since signing with their practice squad in 2022. So far, Mauga’s primary impact has been as a depth defender and special teams gunner. It is likely he will reprise that role in 2025, despite the serious turnover at the linebacker position.

Snowden returns for his second season in Las Vegas after playing an unexpectedly large role last season. With injuries to Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonce, Snowden started in nine games in 2024, his first NFL regular season action since being a member of the Chicago Bears in 2021. Snowden finished the campaign with 39 tackles, one and a half sacks and four passes defended.

Assuming Crosby and Koonce return healthy, Snowden will likely be pushed back to a rotational role.

Meredith will compete for one of the open offensive line spots in training camp, while Butler and Webb are set to return to depth roles in their position groups.

With all five returning to the Raiders, the team got deeper quickly.
