Raiders News: NFL Analyst Suggests Team Reunite Davante Adams with Former Green Bay Packers Teammate via Trade

The Las Vegas Raiders are in an all too familiar position for the franchise: trying to find their identity with yet another new head coach. To complicate matters, the Raiders are also (once again) searching for an answer at the quarterback position. Aidan O’Connell played well enough as a rookie last year to be in the conversation to be the starter again this year, but Gardner Minshew was also signed to compete for that job. Neither name is a real needle-mover on offense.

Of course, the Raiders’ most lethal offensive weapon is All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. Their star wideout has made numerous headlines over the past couple of weeks, thanks in large part to the popular Receiver documentary on Netflix. During that series, it was revealed that Adams had signed off on the benching of former quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and had expressed fear for his life given how badly the offense was playing.

Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receiver Has Been the Center of Numerous Trade Rumors

Ever since the Green Bay Packers traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, there have been many fans and analysts alike who have wondered when Adams would reunite with him. After all, the Raiders released Adams’ friend and college quarterback Derek Carr after the four-time Pro Bowler played a huge roll in convincing Adams to sign a multi-year contract with Las Vegas.

The disappointing end of the 2023 season also fueled trade rumors, many thinking that Rodgers could force the Jets to attempt a trade for Adams. For his part, the All-Pro wide receiver and his agents have said there are no trade talks and that he is committed to the Raiders this season.

That, however, has not stopped the trade speculation involving Adams reuniting with Rodgers. There could, though, be a possible reunion with a different former Packers teammate according to one NFL analyst.

NFL Analyst Suggests the Las Vegas Raiders Trade for New Orleans Saints Running Back Jamaal Williams

The Raiders allowed former running back Josh Jacobs to depart in free agency. He has since signed with Adams’ former team, the Packers, and has left a bit of a hole at running back. While Las Vegas is confident in Zamir White, they could use more experience and depth at the position.

Cody Woodroof of USA Today named the Raiders as a potential trade destination for current New Orleans Saints running back Jamaal Williams, who is one of Adams’ former Packers teammates:

“The New Orleans Saints are very unlikely to trade running back Alvin Kamara with so much riding on this season with coach Dennis Allen and quarterback Derek Carr. However, it’s very possible the team could consider freeing up a little cap space (almost $4 million) and adding a draft pick for Williams, who didn’t fit in with New Orleans last season quite like he did with the Detroit Lions in 2022 (1,066 yards, 17 touchdowns). Only 29, Williams could help a contending team in the red zone while the Saints could give 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller a bigger role in the offense.”

One facet of the game that Williams would be highly adept in should he find his way to Las Vegas is in the receiving game. Since 2018, he has dropped only seven passes, including none last year.

Williams is also an incredible teammate and great locker room leader. The Raiders certainly would not regret trading for him.
