Maxx Crosby has signed a three-year, $106 million dollar contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have struggled for the past few seasons, and it was unclear what the future might hold with Crosby. All of those questions have now been put to bed as Crosby will remain in Las Vegas for the next three seasons. Crosby has been a dominant force in his years with the Raiders. In his first six years with the team and in the league, he has racked up 59.5 sacks. Maxx Crosby’s best season came in 2023 when he accumulated 14.5 sacks on the season. The Raiders clearly view Crosby as a cornerstone for the future of their defense and franchise.

What lies ahead

Although re-signing Maxx Crosby was a huge move for the Raiders and their future, the rest of the roster still has a lot of holes. The Raiders still have a question mark at the most important position in football, quarterback. Las Vegas needs to answer a lot of other questions on their roster, but most importantly, who will be the starting quarterback next season? Regardless of Crosby, the franchise will not be contending for Super Bowls without a quarterback.

Defensively, Maxx Crosby is the focal point of everything. Although Crosby is elite at defensive end, the Raiders’ defense still needs work. Las Vegas finished in the bottom ten in points per game allowed last season and was around the middle of the pack in yards per game allowed. Las Vegas has the number six pick in the draft and a good amount of cap space. The franchise needs to utilize this cap space correctly and hit on their high draft pick in order to get this team back to Super Bowl contention.
