Ashton Jeanty has been linked to one team more than any other in NFL mock drafts.
The Raiders are that expected destination for the Boise State RB who was runner-up to Travis Hunter for the Heisman Trophy.
And now, Las Vegas is providing hints as to whether all the mock draft creators are right.
Raiders GM John Spytek didn't want to talk about Jeanty specifically, but he basically did.
"I don't know where we got to a place where we don't feel like running backs are valued," Spytek said. "I come from the University of Michigan, and those guys were certainly really valued there. So it's hard for me to get away from that."
Jeanty has been heavily scrutinized throughout the process as the Raiders zeroed in on him.
There's plenty of positive to say, given that Jeanty ran for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2024.
It's safe to say that no matter what Jeanty does, it'll be an upgrade on the Raiders' offense. And if the organization can continue to build things up like they did this offseason, contention could be around the corner a bit sooner than expected.
If the Raiders don't pick Jeanty, it's not yet clear how far he might drop. Most mocks simply expect Las Vegas to take Jeanty, so the simulated scenarios don't have enough time to figure out a new arrangement or formula.
At this point, given what Spytek said, Jeanty to the Raiders makes by far the most sense.
