The Las Vegas Raiders committed to Geno Smith for at least two seasons with the contract extension they gave him. However, after two seasons, it'll be easy for the team to walk away.
That's a sign that they likely don't see Smith as a long-term option. He's already 34 and while many quarterback are playing well deep into their 30s, it would be a risk not to have some sort of succession plan.
The Raiders are unlikely to use their No. 6 pick in the first round on a quarterback but after that, anything is possible. There might be one quarterback the team is particularly interested in.
Former Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe might be the most interesting in the draft. He's got an elite blend of speed and arm strength but he can be inaccurate and inconsistent.
He clearly needs a year or two behind a veteran before he's ready to take NFL snaps. That said, teams could be intrigued by him and take him as early as the second round.
According to The Athletic's Dane Brugler, the Raiders have "done a lot of work" on Milroe this offseason. That doesn't mean they for sure want to draft them but it at least means they're interested.
It's still difficult to see the Raiders using their second-round pick on Milroe but if he falls to the third round, he could very much be in play for the team. As of now, it's anybody's guess where he might get drafted so Las Vegas may never have a chance at him.
