Raiders have a major schedule similarity with one of their opponents making it so much harder to predict the outcome
The 2025 schedule is out, and while we can make all of the predictions we want about the Las Vegas Raiders and what they could do in 2025. But, the reality is, no matter how many predictions we make, we will never be 100% right.
But it's still fun to do. And when doing those predictions and trying to guess which games the Raiders win, and which they lose, it's fun to look at some of the similarities and differences between the schedules of the teams that are about to play -- especially in what's led up to that game that week on both sides.
When the schedule comes out this time every year, one of the first things that everyone does is look for the bye week. Where is the bye week, and is it a good bye week? Oh yeah, and who are you playing after the bye week, and who are you playing before the bye week? All of this is very important.
For the Raiders, they got maybe the best bye week possible, in Week 8, which is smack dab in the middle of the season. This means they will play half of the season before their bye week, rest for a week, and try to get healthy, and then do the second half.
After their bye week, the Raiders are set to play the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team that traded up with the Cleveland Browns to go and get Travis Hunter, and the team that everyone thought would end up taking Ashton Jeanty one pick ahead of the Raiders.
The Raiders should be rested and energized heading into this game at home, right? Well, sure, but it's not the advantage that you may think it is.
In this case, the Jaguars have the same exact bye week, the week before, so both teams will be coming off of rest. Both teams won four games last season, and both are looking to be better in 2025 with new regimes. So, that only makes this game tougher to predict who will win.
