There didn't appear to be love lost for Seattle fans, who held up some pretty brutal signs as Smith left the tunnel to take the field.
According to For The Win, one of them read: "BIGGER BUST - GENO OR JAMARCUS RUSSELL."
And to be fair to Geno, that's absurd, because Russell is one of the biggest busts in NFL history and nobody but Jets fans would consider Smith to be a bust at all.
The problem for Smith, though, is that he responded to the rowdy fans.
A picture captured by Getty Images photographer Steph Chambers shows Smith flashing the double bird toward the stands.
The profane photo can be viewed here.
There didn't seem to be any video footage circulating of this moment. It truly seems like this incredibly well-timed photo is the only thing that caught Smith's action.
The NFL probably won't be a big fan of this if they catch wind of it.
Any kind of punishment wouldn't be an ideal start for Smith's tenure in Vegas, so the Raiders have to be hoping this one just gets a little scolding and not much more.
In Thursday's game, Smith threw three passes, completing one of them for 15 yards, before getting to take the rest of the night off.
Hopefully on the sideline he found a way to tune out the hecklers rather than responding.
