Raiders Free Agent Predicted to Sign With AFC South Team

It has been an eventful offseason already for the Las Vegas Raiders in their first year under new head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek. After a 4-13 campaign in 2024, the team needed to undergo drastic changes if they wanted to build for the future.

Luckily for the Raiders, they have plenty of tools at their disposal to fix things this offseason, including the No. 6 pick in the draft and a projected $95 million in cap space. However, the team also has 27 looming free agents, and Ben Rolfe from Pro Football Network recently predicted that one of their key starters from last season, Tre'Von Moehrig, will sign with the Indianapolis Colts during free agency.

Moehrig was drafted by the Raiders in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has started nearly every game of his four-year tenure with the Silver and Black. The TCU product has been highly effective in his role as a free safety with the team and should command a hefty contract in free agency.

"Moehrig will likely not be a cheap option for the Colts, but his versatility alongside Nick Cross could make for a dynamic pairing in the defensive backfield," wrote Rolfe. "Both are capable against the pass, but neither is a liability when tackling opponents. The experience of Reid or Smith will be tempting, but Moehrig is the long-term play."

The Raiders would love to keep Moehrig in Las Vegas, especially because the team's three top safeties from last season are all set to test free agency. However, it will ultimately come down to how the new regime values Moehrig in comparison to other NFL teams. Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham remained with the team despite the overhaul, so hopefully, that is enough for the team to retain him.
